- Use: Isolation, identification and maintenance of yeasts and molds from dairy and food products
- Characteristics: PDA Agar is suitable for the detection and enumeration of heat-resistant molds in thermally processed fruits and fruit products, and preparing medium for Aspergillus niger.
- Principle:
Potato flour leaching contributes to various mold growth.
Glucose provides energy.
Agar as medium coagulant.
Chloramphenicol inhibits the growth of Bacteria.
- Instructions: Dissolve 40 g of Potato Agar in 1 liter distilled water. Autoclave 15 minutes at 121 °C.
- Storage: Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
